A Poem to Mr Thomas Andrews - By Yvonne McIlree

titanic

One last chime of the clock
It stops, and time stands still…
One last gather of my thoughts
I’m strong, with all my will…
One last glance at my ship
I fought, to keep her afloat…
One last sound of the song
I hear, with every note…
One last drag of my smoke
That floats, and fades up high…
One last glance at my watch
I pray, for those who’ll die…
One last thought for my home
I hope, they’ll not despair…
One more gaze in the dark
I stand, with hopeless stare…
One last draw of my breath
I fall, and drift to sea…
One last grab for the stars
I know, they’ll capture me......
